As a reforming pack rat and someone who spent many years being able to file but not retrieve, Solange, the Clutter Doc, understands her clients' pain and the joy of being clutter free and reasonably organized.

If stuff is taking over your life, it's time to sort and weed.
Having a hard time weeding out? Try removing everyting from the shelf, drawer, closet you're tackling and decide what to keep.
Now is a good time to sort through summer clothes and weed out items you don't really, really love. Things that no longer fit, are worn out, that you put on only to change before leaving the house ... time to move them along. Someone out there is waiting for just that item to show up at the resale shop or Goodwill.
Ditto fall and winter clothing.
Less is more. Think before you buy - do you need it? where will you wear it? is it how you want to spend your money?
For those of us who still like paper for some things:
On January 1st, put a new bank book register in your check book. Write the year on the front and do this every year - it makes it easier to review your banking when it is time to do your taxes.
For those using solely electronic payment, make sure to categorize or name your expenditures so it eases your tax preparation.
